How develop a new visitor information centre that honours and progresses people’s idea of Newcastle?

A new approach to creating a space.
Tourism contributes $900m to the local economy, so the challenge was to create a space which reflects the best of what the Newcastle region has to offer.
Long & Co was brought in to work alongside Newcastle City Council and EJE Architects to help stimulate thinking and shape the concept for the new visitor information centre.
We wanted the space to reflect Newcastle today. To allow visitors to become involved in the city’s culture before they set foot outside the building.
The rail heritage and character of the site was reimagined with a focus on customer experience and smart technologies.
Old and new was carefully blended in the design to reflect a contemporary Newcastle.
Such a privilege to see architecture, customer experience, design and concept come to life to wow visitors of our beloved Newcastle.
